Concept cars offer a window on the future of auto design

Abstract:
The top three awards were given to students at Detroit's College for Creative Studies. Their design was for a premium midsize multi-activity vehicle with innovative window systems.

First place, a $1,500 scholarship prize, went to Ludwin O. Cruz. His asymmetrical car, half made of glass, was embedded with carbon nanotube wire weaving. The driver-side glass, fashioned to look like a golfer's swing, has a dimpled surface (like a golf ball) that employs solar panels to power the four-wheel motors and all the interior electronics.
