Luna Innovations Incorporated announces Krishan Kumar, Ph.D., has joined the company as Vice President of Research and Development (R&D) at its Luna nanoWorks division in Danville, Va. In this role, Kumar will be providing strategic and tactical leadership to the R&D team of Luna nanoWorks.

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to add someone of Dr. Kumar's caliber to our senior management team," said Robert Lenk, Ph.D., President of the nanoWorks Division. "His vast experience will help us to accelerate the translation of our exciting discoveries of diagnostic and therapeutic nanoMedicines into product candidates that we hope will successfully negotiate the rigorous FDA approval process and eventually change the management of many significant diseases."

Kumar also played a key role in establishing a new state-of-the-art Reference Standards Laboratory at the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) where he served as Laboratory Director. Additionally he has worked at Bristol Myers Squibb, Bracco Research USA, and the National Cancer Institute.
