Compact synchrotron to use simple laser

Abstract:
The device could significantly reduce the cost and increase the availability of synchrotron radiation sources, which are increasingly indispensable tools in drug discovery, materials science, biology, nanotechnology and fundamental physics research.

A huge range of applications across the scientific spectrum could be opened up by the new techniques, which not only offer X rays but gamma rays too.
