Defense Funding Bill includes $2.5M for N.C. High-Tech Facilities

Abstract:
Fayetteville State University and Shaw University will receive $1.5 million and $1 million, respectively, for high-tech research as part of the new Pentagon appropriations act, U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge said Friday.

Shaw will use its $1 million for a nanotechnology initiative. Research efforts include use of photovoltaic cells to provide solar energy for unmanned aerial vehicles and development of biochemical sensors for use in chemical and biological warfare.
