OU prof scrutinizes tiny matter for medicine, energy sources

Abstract:
Ohio University nanoscience researcher Saw-Wai Hla, commonly known as "Saw," has had immense success teaching and studying in the field of nanoscience, the study of matter on the tiny nanometer scale. Hla's field of research also has many medical applications. "Nanoparticles can seek and destroy bad cells in a cancer patient, while methods like chemotherapy kill all of the tissue, both good and bad," he said. "With nanotechnology, we can create 'smart' medicine."
