Moving hydrogen atoms under the surface

Abstract:
Researchers at Pennsylvania State University, US, have positioned hydrogen atoms beneath the surface of a palladium crystal using a scanning tunelling microscope (STM). The structures could have applications in fuel cells, catalysis and hydrogen storage.
