An ounce of prevention

Abstract:
Richard A. Denison & Sean Murdock: Our society must make the necessary investment in research to ensure that the positive benefits of nanotechnology are not overwhelmed by potential dangers. Researchers at Rice University have shown how it might be possible to reduce the toxicity of certain nanoparticles by modifying their surfaces. Further research will, no doubt, lead to many other improvements in the safety of these materials.
