GI Joe Goes Nano

Abstract:
As the casualty count rises in Iraq, the safety of our soldiers is paramount in the minds of defense researchers. Nowhere is that more evident than at the Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies, established at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2002 with a five-year, $50 million grant from the U.S. Army. The ISN is a unique undertaking. It pulls together 44 MIT faculty and more than 100 students and postdoctoral researchers to interact with the Army and industrial partners.
