Science Minister Plays Down Nanotechnology Fears

Abstract:
Science Minister Lord Sainsbury today played down fears about nanotechnology. A new study has shown ultrafine powders produced by the industry could build up in the brain if they were inhaled. But Lord Sainsbury said there was no evidence the technology – the science of the incredibly small – was harmful. He said people inhaled nanoparticles all the time. “There are a lot of things we don’t understand in this world,” he said. “That is not a reason for stopping doing them."
