Surface Science Western (SSW)

Surface Science Western is a one-stop R&D centre with comprehensive facilities and professional experts in surface and materials analysis to support industrial and academic customers in their technology innovation. The centre has analysis instruments for Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), atomic force microscopy (AFM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), laser Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX), surface profilometry, dynamic and time-of-flight (ToF) secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), and X ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). With these and other resources for process/product development, the centre provides independent and confidential services to over 200 companies each year.
