Registration Opens for Nano4EARTH Roundtable Discussion on Batteries and Energy Storage on September 26, 2023

On September 26, 2023, Nano4EARTH will hold a roundtable discussion on batteries and energy storage. See https://www.nano.gov/nano4earthroundtable2 The roundtable will aim to identify fundamental knowledge gaps, needs, and opportunities to advance current electrification goals. According to the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), by convening stakeholders from different sectors, backgrounds, and expertise, the roundtable is intended to identify applicable lessons across the spectrum of technologies and to discuss system-specific needs, scalability, and commercialization challenges, as well as potential paths forward. NNI states that these needs could have a near-term impact on energy efficiency, sustainable development, and climate change. The moderated discussion will tackle all aspects of the topic, ranging from research and development (R&D) opportunities to commercialization challenges, by featuring a small group of experts from different sectors and backgrounds. Invited participants include:

- Mike Grubbs, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Safire Technology Group;

- Sooyeon Hwang, Staff Scientist, Brookhaven National Laboratory;

- Ping Liu, Associate Professor, University of California (UC) San Diego;

- Katherine Jungjohann, Group Research Manager III -- Materials Science, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL);

- Virginia Klausmeier, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sylvatex;

- Gleb Yushin, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Sila Nanotechnologies;

- Rodrigo Salvatierra, Chief Science Officer, Zeta Energy;

- Jonathan Tan, Co-Founder and CEO, Coreshell;

- Michael Tinskey, Professor of the Practice, Georgia Tech; and

- Chunsheng Wang, Robert Franklin and Frances Riggs Wright Distinguished Chair, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, University of Maryland.

The meeting will be held online and at the National Nanotechnology Coordination Office in Washington, D.C.
