Mass-Production of Nano-Based Automobile Parts in Iran

Tehran, Iran | Posted on December 12th, 2012

In the 7th International Auto Parts Exhibition, a nano-automobile was put on display with 16 pieces optimized or produced through nanotechnology in association with Industry and Market Workgroup of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council and Designing, Engineering, and Parts Providing Industrial Group of Iran Khodro (SAPCO), in order to present the applications of nanotechnology in automobile industry to the industrial producers. The mass production of 30% of the parts is being carried out in the country.

Among the applications of nanotechnology in the displayed car, mention can be made of the replacement of nanocomposite with polymeric parts such as the substitution of single-layer fuel tubes with the existing three-layer fuel tube, increasing the housing resistance of the front and rear lights, the fan frame, the vessel to adsorb gas evaporations and the gas tank, and the use of nanotechnology in air filter, catalyst, and the adsorbents of pollutants caused by incomplete combustion such as carbon monoxide and its conversion to carbon dioxide.

It must be pointed out that the majority of the requests asked by the visitors of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council's still were related to the substitution of nanocomposites with polymeric parts in order to increase their resistance.

Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council presents the applications of nanotechnology in various industries by participating in industrial exhibitions. 'The 18th International Exhibition on Textile Machinery, Textile Raw Material, Embroidery, and Textile Productions', 'The 17th Exhibition on Petroleum, Gas, Refinery and Petrochemistry', and 'The 12th International Exhibition on Building Industry' were among the industrial exhibitions in which Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council participated in the current year.
