Iran, South Korea to Hold Joint Meeting on Nanotechnology

Tehran, Iran | Posted on September 9th, 2012

Speaking to FNA on the sidelines of the 4th International Congress of Nanotechnology in Iran's Central city of Kashan on Sunday, member of Iran's Nanotechnology Council Ali Beitollahi announced that Iran-Korea nanotechnology conference will be held in Tehran's Tarbiat Modarres University on October 1-3.

He said that the conference is aimed at improving Iran-South Korea scientific interaction in the field of nanotechnology, exploring ways of expanding cooperation and exchanging views among nanotechnology researchers.

Beitollahi said that a large number of Iranian and South Korean experts and university professors will join the conference, and noted that a similar meeting is scheduled to be held in Korea by the next six months.

The nanotechnology growth indicators for Iran have marked a high rise during the recent years as in the total number of the scientific publications, the country has just jumped up two ranks (at the beginning of 2012) to stand tenth in the world. Iran ranked 14th, in the same list, at the beginning of 2011.

In July, Head of the Policy-Making Workgroup of the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) Dr. Ali Mohammad Soltani announced that over 3% of the world publications on nanotechnology belong to Iranian researchers and scientists.
