"We see tremendous opportunity in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan for a variety of CVD diamond applications, including diamond-coated cutting tools for machining non-ferrous materials, wear applications, electrodes and wafer-scale diamond for semiconductor related applications," said Gary Schoettmer, vice president of operations for sp3 Diamond Technologies, Inc. "Techmart is an established provider of PVD coating equipment and services to numerous cutting tool customers and enlisting them as a distribution partner for the region is a key part of our long-term growth strategy. They are extremely well positioned to service the Chinese market with highly-rated sales and service centers throughout Greater China."
The Model 655 Series Hot Filament CVD Reactor offers an industry-leading solution for manufacturing nano- or micro-crystalline diamond films, providing precise and repeatable diamond deposition in both R&D and production applications. The Model 665 is a dual-chamber system that offers a 100 percent increase in deposition area over the single chamber model to significantly reduce cost of ownership (COO).
"The addition of sp3's hot filament reactors is a natural extension to our existing product lines and principal business," said David Kwok, CEO of Techmart. "In line with growing worldwide interest in CVD diamond, we are seeing more of our customers exploring its use and looking to ramp manufacturing capacity for CVD diamond. We look forward to working with sp3 to successfully market their proven CVD diamond reactors into Greater China."
To fully serve its customers, Techmart will start training on sp3's hot filament CVD diamond deposition reactors in January 2012 at sp3's Santa Clara, Calif. manufacturing facility.
