Abstract:
The problem of cleaning thin films has been solved by Teknek, the global leader in contact cleaning technology, with the introduction of the Ultracleen range of cleaning roller.

Teknek introduces high performance solution for cleaning thin film

UK | Posted on May 13th, 2011

Building on the success of Nanocleen which offers unprecedented levels of contamination elimination, Teknek has worked closely with producers and users of thin film to create a product which addresses the impact of debris on yields, production and quality. Highly engineered thin film is increasingly used in flat panel displays (FPD), touch panels, automotive applications and thin film solar panels. In all these sectors there is a zero tolerance policy to defects and the presence of foreign particles in the production process leads to high reject rates. Our new technology dramatically increases yields and reduces waste.

Ruaridh Nicolson, Teknek's sales and marketing manager, said: "Films for applications such as FPD are getting increasingly thinner and hence more fragile yet they need to be 100% clean. The Ultracleen range has been specifically designed to ensure the best possible cleaning at the fastest production rates yet leaving the film totally undamaged by the cleaning process.
Through our commitment to research and innovation we continue to deliver contact cleaning systems which generate on-going savings and increased yields for our customers."

Combine the Ultracleen rollers with Teknek's patented Nanocleen Plus silicone-free, static dissipating adhesive rolls, and the optimum cleaning core for thin films is achieved. The best cleaning performance is now combined with the best processing performance.

Further roller and adhesive developments are due for release in the Autumn continuing a 25-year long record of innovation which saw Teknek pioneer the development of contact cleaning technology.

To maintain the innovation profile and continue to deliver a stream of value-adding products, Teknek continues to invest in recruiting specialist skills and knowledge for the world's largest contact cleaning product development team. The latest example of this policy, is the appointment of Dr. June Calliston. June gained her Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Glasgow, completing her dissertation whilst researching novel and advanced polymers. June will be focussed on developing the next generation of Teknek elastomeric rollers and adhesives.

Ultracleen and Nanocleen are registered trademarks.
