Industry leaders, senior researchers and policy makers from around the world will gather at CNSE's Albany NanoTech Complex from May 16 through 19 for the conference, designed to further strengthen the dialogue between Europe, Japan and the United States in the emerging science of nanotechnology. INC7 was originally scheduled to be held in Japan, but was relocated to CNSE in the aftermath of an earthquake that hit eastern Japan on March 11.
Considered one of the key conferences to share developments in major nanotechnology research programs worldwide, INC7 will feature overview presentations of initiatives led by government, industry and academia in each region; technical sessions highlighting opportunities and challenges in nanoelectronics and related fields; and topical sessions showcasing the economic and societal implications of nanotechnology.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Leo Esaki, who was awarded the 1973 Nobel Prize in Physics in recognition of his pioneering work on electron funneling in solids.
"The UAlbany NanoCollege appreciates the opportunity to host INC7, which is recognized globally as an important venue to share critical information and foster essential collaboration to enable and advance leading-edge nanotechnology research, development and commercialization," said Richard Brilla, CNSE Vice President for Strategy, Alliances and Consortia. "In building on the success of previous INC conferences, as well as the pioneering public-private partnership model at CNSE that is fueling nanotechnology innovations for a variety of industries, we look forward to providing a unique platform to support and enhance these vital discussions."
"We are pleased to welcome leaders from the worldwide nanotechnology industry, including esteemed international scientists and researchers, to the UAlbany NanoCollege for the important INC7 conference," said Melissa Preston, CNSE Assistant Vice President, Special Events and Programs. "This gathering further illustrates CNSE's expanding role as a global nexus to support the rapid growth of the emerging nanotechnology sector."
