Printed Electronics – Ready to Go

Frankfurt/Main, Germany | Posted on February 18th, 2011

"We see a rapidly growing interest by companies and investors in organic and printed electronics worldwide", says Wolfgang Mildner, Chairman of the board of directors (Organic and Printed Electronics Association), on Thursday in Frankfurt. "The market potential for printed electronics is huge. In parallel with the upward trend in this technology the interest in OE-A is growing too" states Mildner. "Last year the OE-A membership increased by more than 30%, to more than 160 members from 27 countries."

New applications for established industries

Flexible thin lighting elements for automotive and buildings interiors provide new opportunities for car designers and architects. Thinness, flexibility, robustness and easy integration are the competitive advantages of this new technology. Flexible solar cells, RFID-tags for brand protection, printed batteries or e-reader are additional applications enabled by organic and printed electronics. Integrated systems printed roll-to-roll at low-cost render the possibility of having consumer goods as well as industrial electronic systems that are extremely compact and energy efficient.

VDMA Webbox TV presents new video of the OE-A

"Organic and Printed Electronics is an emerging technology well on its way to mass markets" says Mildner in the recent video ‚Printed Electronics - Ready to Go!' - Latest news on this industry can be found at www.vdma-webbox.tv/english (English) or www.vdma-webbox.tv/deutsch/ (deutsch)

About OE-A
The OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association) is a working group within the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) and was founded in December 2004. The OE-A is the leading international industry association for organic and printed electronics and represents the entire value chain of this emerging industry. Our members are world-class global companies and institutions, ranging from R&D institutes, component and material suppliers to producers and end-users. More than 160 companies from Europe, North America, Asia and Australia are working together to promote the establishment of a competitive production infrastructure for organic electronics. The vision of the OE-A is to build a bridge between science, technology and application. More than 3,000 member companies from the engineering industry make VDMA the largest industry association in Europe.

The OE-A is the host of the premier international conference and exhibition, LOPE-C – Large-area, Organic and Printed Electronics Convention, which addresses end-users, manufacturers, the Messe Frankfurt.
