The tea partiers' fatal flaw

Abstract:
Among the expected hundreds of 21st century basic science application blockbusters that might threaten our security are: (1) the creation of almost any synthetic genome (from cell biology), (2) invisible cloaks (from solid state physics), (3) nanobots (from nanotechnology), (4) self-aware robots (from information science), (5) quantum computers (from quantum entrapment), and (6) chips implanted in the brain (from artificial intelligence).

What would our present government and a tea partiers' government do with hundreds of these future scientific challenges? Our government would have the capability in all anticipated scientific breakthroughs and catch up quickly in the unanticipated ones. For the tea partiers' government, game over. It takes decades to rebuild a lost top-rank science population.
