Live simply, teach how to learn
Abstract:
A report came out last week saying that almost two out of three jobs over the course of the next 10 years are going to require postsecondary education. While we've been fixated on how to raise our high school graduation rate ... that goal is nowhere near high enough.
We focus on this nanotechnology effort, but if we get things right for that, a lot of ripple benefits should occur.
If we create an innovative community, one that's forward-looking, if we develop a highly skilled work force, if we get our educational system right, if we get quality of life in this community right, if our leadership is convincing and credible, we should have opportunities that far exceed what's coming out of Notre Dame's agenda.
