CLEAN TECH: USGS's Lithium Find Means Little for Mythical Shortfall

Abstract:
Concerns over a shortage of the material lithium, a key component of the lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles, are overblown, according to experts. Lithium is produced in only a few countries - Argentina, Chile, China and Bolivia are the biggest suppliers - and there has been speculation about whether or not the material could be supplied in enough quantity to support a mass transition to electric vehicles powered by lithium-ion batteries.
