Abstract:
Dais Analytic Corporation (DLYT 0.32, -0.03, -8.57%) ("the Company") is a nanotechnology firm focused on key energy and water applications using its technologies. Dais's applications include a novel water clean-up process, the "next generation" of highly efficient heating, cooling, and refrigeration applications, and ultracapacitor based energy storage.

Dais Analytic Ships First Waste Water Component of $48 Million System to China

Tampa, FL | Posted on May 11th, 2010

The Company today announced it has shipped the first component of its NanoClear(R) clean water process system as part of a $48 million sales agreement with CAST Systems Control Technology Co. Ltd. and Genertec America, announced in April 2010.

The component shipped is being configured to begin the formation of a complete 'Zero Discharge Waste Water Facility' in northern China. This "first of its kind facility" will yield clean water made from waste water having contaminant levels in the 'parts per billion' v. the industry standard of 'parts per million' range.

The water cleaning portion of the system is being built by Dais and provided to CAST. The system is using Dais's patented nanotechnology materials and process called NanoClear(TM). CAST, working with others in China, will construct and operate the physical plant which is projected to come on-line in mid-2011. The system, when fully operational, is designed to treat 140,000 tons per day of waste water turning it into potable water.

Dais's NanoClear(TM) water treatment process uses the Company's "smart plastic" membrane to extract only water molecules from waste, sea, or brackish water, creating water suitable for drinking while leaving behind impurities. The membrane operates well in water which contains little to high levels of impurities, and uses little to no chemicals during operation. In two separate recent reports by third party -- NanoClear has demonstrated its ability to clean contaminated water to the US Environmental Protection Agency's proposed new 'parts per billion' waste and run-off water standard announced on January 15, 2010.

Compared to traditional distillation, or reverse osmosis operations, the NanoClear value proposition is a process projected to have (a) lower capital requirements, (b) the ability to re-use energy found in low-grade waste heat, (c) the ability to produce clean water without extensive pre-and post-processing chemical treatment, (d) a membrane with little to no sensitivity to high salt content water, and (e) the ability to use a variety of heat sources to drive the cleaning reaction lowering 'new' energy use.

Tim Tangredi, Dais's President & CEO, said, "This is an important milestone for our business. We are making solid progress on our largest contract to date, and as such we continue to garner solid validation for our NanoClear application. Most people are aware clean water is an increasingly important challenge world-wide. NanoClear provides many forms of users and their needs an answer to this challenge. As such we expect big things from NanoClear in the coming years."
