UTA professor developing nanomedicine for cancer
Abstract:
Wei Chen, assistant physics professor at the University of Texas at Arlington, has a background in chemistry. And although he's in the physics department, he's actually working on nanomedicine research.
Looking for a possible future cancer treatment, Chen works with others from areas as diverse as his background.
"I have a good diversity in my team—students and scientists from physics, chemistry, biology, bio-engineering," he said. "I also have good collaborations with medical schools."
"What's so promising about nanotechnology is we can more accurately and effectively deliver a drug to the actual cells that have gone wrong. That's what cancer is. Cancer is cells that have gone wrong," he said.
