French big loan to promote education, investment

Abstract:
France will set aside 35 billion euros ($51 billion) in the coming months to fund strategic investments to boost the country's long-term competitiveness, with the priority given to higher education and research.

"We suffer from a dispersion of efforts and, too often, from walls between research and the economy. We shall therefore develop research teams, boost competitiveness and increase efforts in biotechnology and nanotechnology," he said (President Nicolas Sarkozy).
