Nano Toothpaste

Abstract:
Many people worry about the unanticipated consequences of otherwise beneficial developments. For some of them, nanotechnology has been a hot topic. And according to a report this week by the Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies, there is more than ever for them to worry about.

Is there any evidence these substances pose any kind of serious threat? The answer seems to be "not yet." But in a report that I wrote about last year, an expert panel convened by the National Research Council sharply criticized the federal government's efforts to identify possible health or environmental risks of nanotechnology.
