Air Force research dollars to fund two Pennsylvania projects
Abstract:
Funding from Air Force Research Laboratory — based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base — is going to a Philadelphia-based firm and a Carnegie Mellon University spin-off for materials projects.
The Pennsylvania NanoMaterials Commercialization Center, with Lehigh University, has awarded Arkema Inc. $275,000 of Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) funding, and the company is providing an equal amount in matching funds, the center said.
The center also awarded nanoGriptech, a Carnegie Mellon University spin-off, $200,000 in AFRL funding for the commercialization of a fibrous adhesive "based on the foot hairs of geckos," the company said.
