NanoBusiness Alliance Announces Keynote Lineup for 8th Annual NanoBusiness 2009, Nanotechnology’s Foremost Business Conference and Exhibition

Chicago, IL | Posted on July 25th, 2009

Now in its eighth year, NanoBusiness 2009 has moved from New York to Chicago with a focus on revitalizing the economy through nanotechnology innovation. Because Illinois has a large manufacturing base, world class nanoscience research, and a vibrant and growing nanotechnology community, the event is expected to attract a larger base of attendees from "traditional" companies, with an eye towards the acceleration, deployment and commercialization of nanotech innovations.

This year's keynote lineup reflects the groundbreaking work being done by these innovators, and will feature presentations from the following leading practitioners in nanotechnology, including:

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

* 9:45-10:30 - Josh Wolfe, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Lux Capital
* 5:00-5:45 - Dr. Ray Johnson, Chief Technology Officer, Lockheed Martin

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

* 8:30-9:15 - Scott Livingston, Chief Executive Officer, Livingston Securities, LLC
* 9:15-10:00 - Dr. Waguih Ishak, VP & Director, West Coast Research, Corning, Inc.
* 10:00-10:45 - Jack Uldrich, Global Futurist & Best-Selling Author
* 12:30-2:00 - Norbert Riedel, Chief Science Officer, Baxter
* 2:00-3:00 - Mark Shannon, Director, The WaterCAMPWS Center, University of Illinois
* 4:30-5:30 - Matthew M. Nordan, President, Lux Research

Thursday, September 10, 2009

* 8:30-9:00 - Terry Taber, Chief Technology Officer, Eastman Kodak
* 9:00-10:00 - Fabien Cousteau, Explorer & Aquatic Environmentalist
* 12:45-1:30 - Sally Gutierrez, Director, US Environmental Protection Agency
* 4:30-5:15 - F. Mark Modzelewski, Co-Founder & Executive Director, Water Innovations Alliance

"We believe that our NanoBusiness 2009 keynote lineup will offer our attendees an unparalleled view from the brightest minds working in nanotechnology today," said Vincent Caprio, Executive Director, NY NanoBusiness Alliance and Event Director. "We're proud that in addition to the thought leaders we are welcoming back to our program, we are also featuring presentations from such mainstream companies as Lockheed Martin, Eastman Kodak and Baxter, who will provide us with an inside look on how major corporations are innovating through nanotechnology."

"We are excited to be returning to keynote NanoBusiness 2009, one of the most important gatherings of the year for stakeholders in the American economy focused on nanotechnology and industries impacted by discovery at the nanoscale," said Scott Livingston, CEO, Livingston Securities LLC. "We are happy that the event is being held in Chicago this year, as Chicago is a major source of nano-talent, from top universities to exciting startups, enlightened public private partnerships and blue chip companies that understand that innovation is key to success. We will discuss the recent increase in IPOs and the impact that an open IPO window will have on venture investors, startup companies and others interested in commercialization of nanotechnologies. We hope to see everybody there."

These keynote sessions are part of the NanoBusiness 2009 expanded conference program, with presentations by more than 100 speakers over three days. Conference tracks include Health/Medical, Energy, Electronics, Water, Defense, Construction, Tools/Metrology, and Advanced Materials. In addition, the move from a hotel-based event to a larger convention center provides for increased exhibition capabilities.
