The winning of an R&D 100 Award provides a mark of excellence known to industry, government, and academia as proof that the product is one of the most innovative ideas of the year.

"We are extremely honored that our innovation in the field of thermal management has been recognized as one of the 100 most technologically significant products introduced in the past year," said APNT CEO, Doug Baker. A major technical issue in the development of electronics is temperature control. If one can remove heat quickly from a heat source and improve the thermal matching of material and device interfaces, the lifetime and reliability of a product can be improved dramatically. Product failure caused by the buildup of heat in electronics and thermal stresses can be prevented. This low cost carbon aluminum matrix material provides a unique combination of high thermal diffusivity, high thermal conductivity, low density and a low coefficient of thermal expansion making it highly suitable for improving thermal management of electronics.
