Bio Nano Consulting (BNC), the specialist bionanotechnology product development consultancy, has appointed Mike Fisher PhD as Business Development Director and to manage a major new UK Government contract. Until recently Dr Fisher was with UKTI in Boston, USA as the British Government's North American advisor on life sciences.
A medicinal chemist with over ten years postdoctoral experience in research, project management and consulting, Dr Fisher helped develop the biotech cluster in the Northwest of England and became a founder of the Northwest Genetics Knowledge Park. He has extensive experience with internationalising biotech companies and has helped a number of biotechs win business and develop partnerships overseas. Commenting on the appointment, BNC's CEO, Dr David Sarphie said; "Since our launch last year, BNC has won a number of high value contracts to develop bionanotech solutions for a variety of organisations. This exciting period of growth meant that we needed someone with the right blend of scientific knowledge, product development experience and commercial know-how, to manage programmes and expand our new business opportunities. Mike is the perfect fit."

A joint venture of Imperial College London and University College London, the BNC is funded through the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) with additional support from the London Development Agency (LDA).
Along with its partner organisation, the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), the BNC offers a service to the biomedical and healthcare industries in microsystems and nanotechnology. This encompasses design, 3-D modelling and visualisation, rapid prototyping, and characterisation.
