Sentinels in space

Abstract:
The research undertaken to meet the needs of space travel have implications for other technologies and business pursuits. Projects range from exploring the potential for carbon nanotube processors to building microbolometer chips to be used in focal-plane arrays used in thermal weapon sights — evidence of how cutting-edge technology can solve tough technical problems from here on earth all the way up to those silent sentinels in space.
