Abstract:
Seal Shield LLC today introduced the new SILVER SEAL(TM) Washable, Antimicrobial Mouse at the HiMSS Healthcare Symposium in Orlando, FL. According to the company, the SILVER SEAL(TM) Mouse is the world's first computer mouse to be fully submersible, dishwasher safe, and manufactured from SILVER SEAL(TM) Antimicrobial plastic. The new SILVER SEAL(TM) mouse has been created to help reduce the risk of cross contaminations, including Influenza and the "superbug," MRSA. The new SILVER SEAL(TM) Mouse is a companion product to the company's SILVER SEAL(TM) Washable, Antimicrobial Keyboard, which began shipping earlier this month.

Influenza (the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause severe illness, and can lead to death. According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control), 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu annually; more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications, and about 36,000 people die from flu. Bacterial infections can occur as co-infections with influenza or occur following influenza infection. Last year, CDC noted an increase in flu and Staphylococcus aureus (staph infection) co-infections among children who had died or were hospitalized with influenza infection. Some of those infections were with the antibiotic resistant "superbug," MRSA.

SILVER SEAL(TM) protects against infections. Unlike other antibacterial products, the SILVER SEAL(TM) antimicrobial plastic utilizes all natural, pure silver ions embedded in the plastic to create a safe and effective antimicrobial solution. Silver is a natural antibacterial product and its properties have been incorporated into the SILVER SEAL(TM) Keyboard using state of the art, nanotechnology. The combination of SILVER SEAL(TM) plastic and SEAL SHIELD(TM) washable technology results in the highest level of cross contamination protection available in an input device today.

"The new SILVER SEAL(TM) Mouse is the best in class infection control mouse on the market. It is manufactured with an ergonomic shape for maximum comfort and ease of use, but it is unique in that it is ANTIMICROBIAL and DISHWASHER SAFE," states Seal Shield CEO, Brad Whitchurch. "The SILVER SEAL(TM) Mouse is the perfect companion to our already popular, SILVER SEAL(TM) Washable, Antimicrobial Keyboard. The SILVER SEAL(TM) Keyboard and Mouse are the most effective infection control input devices on the market today."

Seal Shield is currently accepting orders for the SILVER SEAL(TM) Mouse, which will begin shipping in March. The SILVER SEAL(TM) Mouse has a suggested retail price of $69.99, with a street price of approximately $40 when purchased through authorized distributors including Dell, CDW, Corporate Express, Insight, Synnex and other resellers.
