Startup emerges from stealth mode

Abstract:
A new nanotechnology company is developing advanced semiconductor wafers based on University of New Mexico technology and $450,000 from the Verge Fund.

Albuquerque-based Nanocrystal LLC formed last year after securing an option to license UNM-developed technology to create gallium nitride (GaN) nanowires that could be used to build a new generation of high-quality, low-cost semiconductor wafers.

The company closed on a round of seed funding with Verge in August, said Nanocrystal President and CEO Petros Varangis.
