HPC Announces Contract With North Carolina State University to Complete (ISO) 9001:2000 Quality Management System Implementation

WHITSETT, NC | Posted on February 4th, 2008

In response to customer requests and in preparation for proposed new Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) revenue accounts, HPC has been developing a comprehensive quality management system to better ensure effective process identification and controls for customers and potential customers. Upon completion of the project with NC State, HPC will seek certification to the ISO 9001:2000 International Standard.

NCSU-IES will provide training, implementation, and assessment services and activities that prepare HPC to meet the ISO 9001:2000 requirements. Under the contract, NCSU-IES has assigned a project manager and a project facilitator to HPC to train and prepare HPC employees to implement ISO 9001:2000 standards required for certification. The project facilitator has over 20 years of experience in manufacturing and production management. To date, NCSU-IES has prepared 115 companies for ISO certification and all companies prepared under the NCSU-IES program have received certification.

"In response to customer demand, HPC began the ISO requirement process some months ago by creating and establishing product and process quality manuals and written Standard Operation Procedures," said Terry R. Holmes, President and COO of nCoat, Inc, parent company of HPC.

Mr. Holmes further commented, "HPC enjoys customer relationships with several of the world's largest over-the-road trucking, diesel engine, motorcycle, automotive, performance racing, aerospace, heavy equipment and agriculture equipment manufacturers. Many are asking us to achieve ISO certification in preparation for new and higher volume production, both in our current capacity as a Tier 2 supplier and in preparation for potential Tier 1 supply status."

HPC expects to begin the Registration Audit for ISO 9001-2000 upon completion of the collaboration between HPC and NCSU-IES.
