Abstract:
Electrovaya (TSX:EFL) announced today that it will display its upgraded Version-3 intelligent Battery Management System ("iBMS") for transportation applications at EVS-23. The iBMS has been designed for 15V and 48V modules which may be integrated to form intelligent Battery Systems from 48V to 710V.

TORONTO, ON, Canada | Posted on December 3rd, 2007
The iBMS is an integrated, CAN-bus solution with fail-safe capabilities. It optimizes the battery system for optimal performance at a cell and module-level, protects the system and provides system-level interface communications to optimize the battery system together with other elements such as motor, controller and charger.
The iBMS consists of both distributed and system control intelligence integrated in the battery system design. It is available in several voltage configurations and is available as an integrated solution for all three of Electrovaya's chemistry offerings.
In January 2007, Electrovaya added the MN-Series chemistry to its existing roster of Phosphate-Series and Cobaltate-Series offerings. The MN-Series is Electrovaya's preferred chemistry for transportation because it offers up to 50% higher energy density with comparable safety characteristics to its Phosphate-Series offerings.
Electrovaya's technology breakthrough and over150 provisional and issued patents provide the basis of a technology platform that is independent of both the anode and cathode chemistry. As a result, Electrovaya offers multiple chemistries and is well positioned to take advantage of future nanotechnology developments. All Electrovaya's battery system solutions are developed with an integrated approach of power electronics, systems engineering design, electrochemistry and cell design.
EVS-23, the International Electric Vehicle Symposium, will be the biggest gathering of electric drive professionals in the world and will be held from December 2 to 5, 2007 in Anaheim, California. Electrovaya will be presenting an invited technical paper on Tuesday Dec. 4th and will have its products on display at its Booth #737.
