Advance media registration is now available for the Pacific Rim Summit on Industrial Biotechnology & Bioenergy. The Summit will take place Nov. 14-16, 2007 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort in Honolulu and is co-hosted by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), the American Chemical Society and the State of Hawaii, with support from BIOTECanada, AusBiotech, and the Chemical Institute of Canada.

Now in its second year, the Pacific Rim Summit on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy theme is "developing partnerships and new value chains across the Pacific Rim." The conference will focus on the latest cutting-edge developments in industrial biotechnology, with diverse program tracks including ethanol and cellulosic ethanol, bio-butanol and other advanced bioenergy production, biobased products and renewable chemicals, food ingredients, novel applications and nanotechnology, and marine biotechnology and bioprospecting.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for members of the investment, industry, academic and government communities to converge and discuss the top issues affecting the global industrial biotechnology and bioenergy industries today," said Brent Erickson, executive vice president of the Industrial and Environmental Section at BIO.

This year's event will include daily breakfast and luncheon plenary sessions featuring such industry luminaries as Andy Karsner, assistant secretary for the U. S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy; Jiayang Li, vice president, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Aristides Patrinos, president, Synthetic Genomics; and Neal Gutterson, president and CEO, Mendel Biotechnology; Ganesh M. Kishore, managing director, Burrill & Company; Patrick Gruber CEO of Gevo; Volkert Claassen, vice president of white biotechnology, DSM; and Richard E. (Rick) Zalesky, vice president, Biofuels & Hydrogen Business Unit, Chevron Technology Ventures, LLC.
