Productronica 2007 Expands Its Leading Position and Presents Trends and Innovations of Electronic Production

Munich, Germany | Posted on October 1st, 2007

Exhibitors at Productronica will present the complete range of electronic production in the halls of the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from 13 to 16 November 2007. The amount of exhibition space has increased substantially. Both the areas of foreign and German exhibitors are larger than at the previous event. This trend could already be felt for companies, which come from outside of Germany, over the past years while the area for German companies has increased for the first times in years.

The exhibition focal points range from production technologies for semiconductors, displays and circuit boards to material processing, placement technology and product finishing all the way to measuring and testing technologies and quality assurance as well as Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), production logistics and materials handling engineering. The segments of circuit boards, placement technology, measuring and testing technologies, soldering technology and cable processing normally take up a large part of the exhibition area. They are all growing and have expanded to take up more exhibition area.

Thirteen young, innovative companies from Germany will present their products and system solutions at a joint booth "made in Germany" supported by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology.

A total of 1,500 companies and 44,000 visitors are expected at the trade fair.

Key technologies as trade fair highlights

The trend topic microproduction with micro- and nanotechnology is occupying the complete area of Hall B5 at Productronica 2007. The focal points are bonding and packaging, material handling and micro and nano applications. The MicroNanoWorld will constitute a separate area and present materials as well as simulation and production processes for microsystems. Consequently, it is an industry platform for innovative solutions of microproduction as it is used in the automobile industry and mechanical engineering, for example.

Productronica 2007 makes the trends of electronic production of today and tomorrow tangible with its special exhibition "Customized System in Package Solutions" in Hall B5. It displays the integration of electronics in very different application systems with numerous examples and explanations. The demonstration line set up there displays electronics adapted to available space and produces an RFID tag, which is integrated in a ballpoint pen.

Productronica is presenting organic electronics, its market chances, products and applications in the VDMA Forum, which is also located in Hall B5. In addition, the Organic Electronics Association is exhibiting a road¬map for organic electronics at the trade fair, and experts will explain which new markets can be opened up with this still young technology and which developments can be expected in the near future.

Productronica 2007 is paying special attention to photovoltaics. This exhibition area concentrates on the production of solar and thin-film solar cells as well as photovoltaic modules and covers the complete production chain from silicon to ready-to-use modules. Manufacturing of semiconductors and displays as well as clean room engineering are closely linked with photovoltaics.

Subcontractors show which services they offer in development and production and which services and solutions are possible for individual solutions in the EMS segment in Hall A6.

Efficiency is also a big issue in production logistics and material handling engineering, to which Productronica 2007 continues to pay increased attention. Solutions for reliable product traceability, cost-cutting ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and MES (Materials/Manufacturing Execution Systems) and other merchandise management and logistics requirements will be presented by exhibitors in Hall A6.

Presentation and Communication Platform for the Global Market

To do justice to the enormous thirst for knowledge of industry, especially for production technologies for the high-growth application areas of the electronics industry, Productronica 2007 provides a varied "education program" in addition to a wide-ranged exhibition area. Leading experts from research and industry will present the latest technologies at three forums: Productronica Forum, VDMA Forum and ZVEI Forum.

Two other events in the supporting program of Productronica promise to be exciting: the Executive Round Table with top-rate company representatives on the first trade fair day in the Productronica Forum on the topic "The roles played by China, India and Eastern Europe in the sector of Electronics Production" and the keynote speech at the opening of Productronica on 12 November 2007, which Prof. Franz Josef Radermacher, head of the Research Institute for Application-Oriented Knowledge Processing (FAW/n) and Professor for Informatics at Ulm University, will hold. The title of his talk is "Globalization, Information Society, Sustainable Development - What are the Challenges ahead?"
