Corzine backs high tech at Fort Monmouth

Abstract:
Gov. Jon Corzine said a proposal to turn Fort Monmouth's high tech civillian workforce into a private defense contracting firm could cushion the economic blow that is expected to come when the army research center closes in 2011.

Corzine added that Fort Monmouth's workforce and the 1,000-acre installation now owned by the U.S. Army, could become a center for future state-backed endeavors such as stem cell research and nanotechnology.
