AeA, the nation's largest high-tech trade association, and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering ("CNSE") of the University at Albany, ranked by Small Times magazine as the nation's number one college for nanotechnology, will partner to hold a first-ever conference focused on the development of common nanotechnology-enabled platforms that will drive innovation and spur commercial opportunities in a broad array of industries, including nanoelectronics, health care, energy, defense and aerospace, among others.
The Convergence of International Research and Commercialization in Albany, or CIRCA '07, will be held May 21-23 at the Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs, NY and at CNSE's Albany NanoTech complex in Albany, NY.
The purpose of CIRCA '07 is to leverage the state-of-the-art nanofabrication expertise of leading device, equipment and material suppliers - and the subsequent convergence of nanotechnology with electronics, photonics, bioelectronics, microsystems and wireless technologies - to unlock the enormous market opportunities that exist in such diverse sectors as energy, biohealth, security and telecommunications.

Among the speakers confirmed for CIRCA '07 are Bernie Meyerson, IBM Fellow and vice president and chief technologist for IBM Systems and Technology; Wendy Arienzo, vice president and general manager of NXP; Michael O'Halloran, director of technology for CH2MHill; Robert Maire, senior analyst at Needham & Company; and Daniel Webster Jr., general manager of ANALOGIC.
