Why AMD chose Luther Forest and the Capital Region

Abstract:
The infrastructure that lured AMD includes Albany NanoTech, the proximity of IBM Corp. facilities in East Fishkill, and the Luther Forest site itself in Malta/Stillwater, Caudell said.

Another factor, he said, was the benefits New York state extended to the company. "This is a very expensive business," Caudell said. New York is providing about $1.2 billion in benefits to the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based semiconductor manufacturer.
