We asked some experts -- children who are no doubt among the most excited about Santa's visit and an engineering professor who may be related to the man himself.

Rick Claus, a Virginia Tech engineering professor and president of NanoSonic, a Blacksburg nanotechnology firm, has pondered this question since he and his brother were growing up in Maryland.
