MTU researchers develop nanoparticles to fight wood decay

Abstract:
If you've ever noted with dismay that the base of the wooden fence posts around your yard or the boards of your sundeck were soft and crumbling, then you are familiar with the fungi that cause wood to rot. Now researchers from Michigan Technological University have developed a novel nanotechnology-based wood preservative delivery system that may provide the lumber industry with alternatives to conventional treatments.
