Toumaz Technology Limited Names Dr Ian McWalter As New CEO

Abingdon, United Kingdom | Posted on April 27, 2006

Toumaz Technology Limited today announces that it has appointed Dr Ian Lindsay McWalter as its new Chief Executive Officer. Keith Errey, who served as Toumaz CEO since co-founding the company in 2000, will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Dr McWalter was most recently President and CEO of Canadian semiconductor manufacturer Gennum Corporation, and brings to his new role over 30 years of experience in the semiconductor and electronics industry 20 of those gained in senior management positions at Gennum and Nortel.

Dr McWalter joins Toumaz with a focus on accelerating the commercialisation of Toumaz’s proprietary AMx™ advanced mixed signal technology within its key healthcare and consumer electronic markets. Following its acquisition in November 2005 by AIM-listed nanotechnology investment vehicle Nanoscience Inc., Toumaz announced plans to invest in a number of key areas, including ongoing development of new products and the ultra-low power Sensium™ family of devices, investigations into advanced semiconductor processes and the strengthening of the company’s engineering and commercial teams.

Richard Rose, Non-Executive Chairman of Nanoscience, said, "We are extremely pleased with the appointment of Dr. McWalter to the role of CEO at Toumaz Technology. With his wealth of industry experience and strong track record in commercialising semiconductor technology, I believe Dr McWalter is ideally suited to lead Toumaz’s development into a revenue-generating commercial supplier of ultra-low power integrated circuits and silicon chip solutions.”

Commenting on his appointment, Dr McWalter added, “Toumaz’s leadership in ultra-low power silicon for wireless and signal processing applications is enabling truly revolutionary products in the industry’s major markets including healthcare and consumer electronics and I am delighted to be joining a team with such exciting commercial potential.”

Dr McWalter gained his Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College in 1976 and has held board positions with a number of electronics companies and key industry bodies.
