Researcher thinks big about tiny things

Abstract:
For most of his 77 years, Fred Hawthorne has thought about boron. That element was the main focus of his 40 years of research at the University of California, Los Angeles. Now Hawthorne is setting up shop in Missouri as co-director of the new International Institute for Nano and Molecular Medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
