Q5: Lesley Thompson from Research Councils UK
Abstract: Why do we need a mini-fab in the UK? The area of nanotechnology is an important one. The EPSRC, in order to maintain the position of our science base in this area, needs to consider investment opportunities like the mini-fab as part of planning our future portfolio. See also Outline Vision for UK Silicon Nanoelectronics Research (PDF) for details about the program.
