Troubling Questions Linger Over Approach of IIT’s Center on Nanotech

Abstract:
Darrell Dvorak: Simply put, a core tenet of the fear culture is that society should forsake the benefits of new technologies until they are proven to have no adverse effects. Note the absolutism. It would be a prescription for technological paralysis and it also “works to estrange the public from the ideals of risk taking, innovation and experimentation,” according to one prominent critic.
