Education and regeneration

Abstract:
Tony Blair: It is interesting to note that economic growth here exceeds that of London and the south east at the present time. The creative industries employ some 100,000 people and are growing faster than in any other region of the country. They now contribute 10% to the region's economy. Overseas investment has been extensive. £200 million is being invested in the region in new and emerging technologies, such as life and health sciences, new and renewable energy, and nanotechnology.
