Novel cancer treatment demonstrated at UPMC lab

Abstract:
Dr. Steven Curley, professor of surgical oncology at M.D. Anderson, brought a test-tube full of "buckytubes" to the lab from Texas. Buckytubes are man-made carbon molecules that researchers are hoping can be attached to cancer cells as part of the radio wave treatment.

The theory is that buckytubes will serve as a potent payload that will kill the cancer when they heat up after being exposed to radio waves. In a demonstration yesterday, the team showed that the molecules will heat up after being exposed to the radio waves.
