Rare earths deal comes at a price
Abstract:
AMR Technologies Inc. may look like a plain old metals company, but it's enjoyed a lead role in some of the hottest trends of the last decade.
Since the early 1990s, AMR has processed rare earth minerals used in everything from optical disk drives to MP3 players. It leapt into the nanotechnology field in the late '90s, manipulating its minerals at the molecular level to squeeze them into that ever-shrinking cellphone in your pocket.
