Deal puts Albany NanoTech in 'critical path' of IBM R&D

Abstract:
Much of IBM's future research will be conducted at Albany NanoTech as a result of the $338 million Center for Semiconductor Research the two are establishing.

IBM has committed $183 million and the state university's Albany NanoTech research site is committing $135 million, with much of that money coming from three or four other participating companies. IBM and Albany NanoTech are seeking another $20 million from the Empire State Development Corp.
