'My first priority is to open markets'

Abstract:
Peter Mandelson attempted to woo British business yesterday by putting himself at the centre of Europe’s economic reform.

He singled out science, in particular biotechnology and nanotechnology, as an area where the commission had a responsibility to provide a more favourable regulatory climate.
