Spin doctors prescribe semiconductor solutions
Abstract:
Manipulating the spin of electrons was little more than a dream 15 years ago. Today, the science of spintronics - or spin-based electronics - is the focus of intense worldwide study. European researchers are at the forefront of recent breakthroughs using semiconductors, for instance, discovering ways of controlling spin by either voltage or light. By 2020, spin-based quantum computing may become a reality.
